Martha passed away peacefully at 11:15 PM. She suffered a massive stroke on April 5th and was unable to recover. Martha was one of the most beautiful and vibrant souls that you could ever meet. That is not to say that life wasn’t challenging due to battling successive illnesses. In spite of her health challenges, she always had a loving, concerned, kind or complimentary word to those she met along her path. She was a great conversationalist and connected easily with others. When at her best, she was adored and loved; especially in her latter years by the HOLY FAMILY HOSPITAL COMMUNITY from residents, visitors, and staff. One often left her side laughing - amazed by her quick wit.

Martha was born in Austria to a wealthy family of wine makers and shared her father’s love of music. Martha came to Vancouver on April 1st, 1963 to marry Joseph. She raised three children to the best of her ability always looking for ways to enhance their learning and her own while providing a sense of stability. She enrolled in courses at Douglas College becoming a child care worker in the 70’s at Eileen Corbett Reception Center. Martha cared deeply for the children in her care; wanting to adopt many of them. She later worked at the Marine Room at Eaton’s in downtown Vancouver in the 80’s enjoying serving others.

She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Vlasic (2015). Martha leaves behind her eldest daughter, Katarina Vlasic (Gerry Parson), her son Tom Vlasic and her youngest daughter Sussi Passaglia (Derek), grandchildren Devin and Ashley along with all of her special “Sunshines” at Holy Family. You know who you are!!!
