Marjorie Antoinette Scott Downie (nee Donald) passed away peacefully on February 17, 2009. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas (Tony), daughters Lorna (Ken) and Alison (Larry), sons Glenn and Kevin (Donna), and grandchildren Devon, Kendall and Keegan. The family wishes to thank the staff at Purdy Pavilion for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Thursday February 26 at 2:00 pm in the Garden Room at Purdy Pavilion, UBC Hospital.

Marjorie was born in Partick, Glasgow, Scotland on April 1, 1927. She married Tony on December 25, 1950. After becoming a mother to Lorna and Alison in Scotland, Marjorie and Tony immigrated to Canada settling in Kitsilano, Vancouver in 1955. Glenn was then born in 1956 with Kevin following in 1966.

She was a career mom, working as bookeeper for several high profile accounting companies and engineering firms. She was also a sports fan who enjoyed watching soccer, football and baseball, often choosing to support the underdog.

Marjorie loved cats, shopping and was an accomplished knitter. As Tony was often working away from home, she became quite comfortable with home repairs fixing leaky taps and using WD40.

Marjorie enjoyed time near the water on Bowen Island, dining at favorite restaurants and bi-yearly getaways to Puerto Vallarta.

In her later years she was the center of family gatherings and was entertained with the energy and antics of her young grandchildren.
