Marina Koskinen passed away unexpectedly from a sepsis infection caused by lung cancer the evening of June 30th, 2020 in Vancouver General Hospital at the age of 84. She is predeceased by her ex-husband, John, and her brother, George. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son, Darrell; daughter-in-law, Sherie; granddaughter, Tabitha; great-granddaughter, Hayden; sister-in-law, Carol; niece, Leanne; nephews: Mitchell, Paul, and Scott and especially good friend Charlotte.

Marina was born in China and moved to Vancouver in the mid 1950s. Her first job was an office job in an insurance company. It was through this job that she met her husband, John, and long time best friend, Rae. She then moved into administrative roles in the medical field. She worked in the department of neurology at UBC and in ophthalmology at VGH. In her late 40s, while working in the ophthalmology department, she developed breast cancer.  She survived breast cancer and went back into the medical field followed by a role in the Faculty of Adult & Higher Education at UBC. It was in this role that she met another very close friend, Charlotte. Unfortunately, she had to leave this role early to care for her aging mother.

Marina had great respect for and loved all of God's creations. She especially loved plants and animals. She raised and cared for many pets over the years. She raised and cared for birds, gerbils, turtles, and cats but her greatest love was for dogs. She had a dog for most of her life, and it was only after she could no longer care for a pet, that she stopped having pets.
