Marilyn Lorraine Wickie (nee Graham)
Marilyn passed away peacefully in the early morning light and snow of December 31st, 2021 at the age of 87.
Marilyn was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick on April 20th, 1934, the second child of Ruby and William Graham and the beloved younger sister of Marian (George Rogers).
Marilyn recounted a happy childhood of athletics, outdoor pursuits, friends and family. She eventually trained as a court stenographer and in 1955 she met her future husband, Joseph Richard Wickie (1934-2017) through her work. In 1960 they were married and proceeded to travel the world, living in Hamilton, Germany, Greece, Pakistan, India, Portugal, Ottawa and eventually settling in the Lower Mainland in 1980.
Marilyn then worked for many years in the retail industry where she took great pleasure in the social relationships she formed there and the animals she and Joe had over the years.
Despite some health challenges, she lived life as she wanted and towards the end of her life she longed to be reunited with the family she so missed, including her nephews Dave and Richard and her sister-in-law Anna.
Marilyn leaves behind her daughter Johanna and Johanna's husband Shaun and her grandson Graeme. She also leaves her great-niece Kim and her children Jenna, Jackson and Kyra and her great-nephew Mark (Twyla) and their children Justin, Jordan and Sydney. She also leaves her cousin Donald who she played with in the wintery snow of New Brunswick as a child.
A small family service will take place in the next several weeks.
