It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother/Grandmother, Marilyn Ann Miller (nee Wiens). Marilyn passed away peacefully, with her family at her side at Surrey Memorial Hospital on June 4th, her 80th birthday. She was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan June 4, 1940 to mother Mary Vidiuk and father Lewis Cliff Barrel. She married Walter Miller Dec. 10, 1960 and they moved to B.C. shortly thereafter. Marilyn worked at various jobs before she found her calling as one of the first few women bus drivers hired by B.C. Hydro in Vancouver. She started there Feb. 3, 1975 and worked as a driver until retiring Sept. 30, 2000. She was simply known as MA at work, and her easy nature made her a friend of many who came to know her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother throughout her life, and raised her kids as a single working mother for many years. She is survived by her sister Harlean Cournoyer, daughter Leona (Vince), grandson, Josh (Laura), son Lyle (Kandise), granddaughter Maddison. She also leaves behind many relatives and friends in B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Marilyn was predeceased by husband Walter, (1989) and brother Ernie. At Marilyn’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice. Thank you.
