Maria Valenti

It is with profound sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Maria Valenti. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family, on February 22, 2025, at the age of 81.

She will be forever remembered by her devoted husband of 58 years, Isidoro, son Francesco (Mirella), and their daughter Valentina, son Peter, grandson Joshua, and sister-in-law Mariella. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished deeply.

Maria was predeceased by her parents, Francesco and Ignazia Fontana, her in-laws, Caterina and Emanuele Valenti, her eldest son, Emanuele, sisters Giovanna (Agostino) and Antonina (Giuseppe), nephews Giuseppe Maggiore and Salvatore Valenti, as well as by brothers-in-law Antonino and Franco. In her last ten years, Maria fought a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia, yet even in her final days, glimpses of her warmth and strength would shine through.

We were truly blessed to have Father Juan Luca alongside us in prayerful preparation of Maria for her new life. We thank him deeply for the peace and comfort he gave us knowing she was in God’s hands.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate nurses, care aides, and staff at Villa Carital for their exceptional devotion to Maria.

Prayers will be offered at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 10, 2025, at St Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, BC., followed the next day by Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 1:30 pm and Entombment at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum.
