It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Augusta Aresta. She passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on January 23rd, 2023.

She was a loving wife of 66 years to her husband Joao, a devoted mother to her daughter Amelia (Amy), a caring grandmother to Josie (Bruno), and the most doting great grandmother to Angelo, Luca, & Ellianna.  She is now reunited with her son-in-law (Emilio), brother (Carlos), and sister (Amelia) in heaven and will be greatly missed by her dear family and friends here.

Maria was a caring, kindhearted, faith-filled, and hardworking woman. She was known for her cooking and baking and always had the warmest smile along with a wittiest sense of humour. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her family, playing with her great grandchildren, and knitting endless slippers and blankets.

We would like to thank all our family and friends, as well as the staff at Burnaby Hospital ward 2A and the Palliative Care Unit who have extended their support during this most difficult time.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Kearney Burnaby Chapel 4715 Hastings Street, Burnaby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish 1423 East 13th Avenue, Vancouver.  Entombment to follow at Ocean View Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Burnaby Hospital Foundation.

She had a deep sense of faith and would always lovingly turn to

Nossa Senhora de Fatima.
