It is with profound sorrow that we announce our mother's death on August 20th, 2008 while undergoing curative surgery at the Heart Institute of Ottawa. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 53 years, Jóse Maria (+2007), and her adoring daughter Martita (+2007).
Our mother will be forever loved and honoured by her daughters Maria, Carmen, Ana Maria and Isabel and her son Jóse. She will be remembered as an extraordinary and gracious lady with an amazing spirit and radiant smile by all her friends, many relativees in Spain, and especially by her dear sister Montserrat in Barcelona, Spain and her youngest sister Ana Mary in Buenos Aries, Argentina.
She was born on April 6th, 1931 in Barcelona, Spain and attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart that was originally established in Spain with her family's support, principally by Blessed Dorotea de Chopitea. She wed Jóse Maria after a five-year courtship in 1954 and moved to Vancouver on August 20th, 1955. They subsequently founded Fontile Corporation and worked together until his retirement.
Our mother had an ardent faith with a great devotion tot he Blessed Virgin Mary and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She had a remarkable and unwavering dedication to her family and embraced life with an exuberance, vitality and generosity of heart that she imparted to all.
Prayers will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1430 West 38th Avenue, Vancouver where the Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, September 6th, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.. Interment will be at the Gardens of Gethsemani.
In appreciation, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to The Religious of the Sacred Heart or the BC Pulmonary Hypertension Society.
