It is with great sadness that the family of Margherita Cucca announces the passing of their precious mother, daughter, sister, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother - a woman who loved well and was well loved: Margherita slipped away after a long heart-breaking period of physical and mental decline inflicted on her by dementia at the age of 89 on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Margherita was the only daughter of six children, born February 16, 1934 to Giovanni and Antonietta Felicella in Mariglianella, Napoli, in the Region of Campania, Italy. Predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Umberto and two brothers Nick (Pauline) and Carlo (Rosa).

Margherita was a proud mom of six children, whom she dedicated her life to. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, a dedicated volunteer and involved parishioner. A woman of kindness, compassion, and service. Her children were proud to call her mamma and will cherish all the beautiful memories of her. She will be immensely missed. Her tenderness, loving ways and beautiful legacy will live on in every one that knew her.

Survived by her six children, Enzina, Franco, Antonietta, Giovanni, Patrizia (Guy) and Anna Maria (Nino). A doting Nonna to eleven grandchildren, Cristina (Craig), Johnny (A.D), Tino (Candace), Carlo (Laura), Margherita (Robby), Antonietta (Marco), Adam, Nico (Katelyn), Mikela, Levi, and London. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Rhys, Roman, Ashton, Lukas, Benicio, Presley, Tijana and three loving brothers, Mario (Anna), Tony (Sina) and Gaetano.

Margherita will be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends in Canada and her home town of Mariglianella Italy.

They invite you to join them for a Prayer Service at St. Francis of Assisi Parish that will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 7:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 2, 2023, at 10:00 am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver with Fr. Gino Aloisio presiding. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the UBC Hospital Fou ndation , the Dementia Society of Canada , or any charitable organization of your choice.
