Our dear mother left us peacefully on Saturday, January 24th. Her strong will and determination allowed her to live a long and productive life. Born in Winnipeg on October 17, 1922 she attended school in Victoria before marrying Allan Sunn Wong (predeceased 1985). Always a hard worker she worked along side her husband running The Grill Café in Kimberley and then on their return to Vancouver, The Green Mill on Homer Street. After retiring from the Bay she focused on her family for the next 29 years. She will forever be remembered for her cooking, baking , sewing, knitting and crocheting skills. She will also be fondly remembered for her love of mah jong, bingo and trips to the casinos. Predeceased by her brothers, Dougie and Robbie, sister Vicki and daughter-in-law Lynn she is survived by sisters, Norma, Jeannie and May and sister-in-law, Alma. Missing her already are children, Garry (Annette), Calvin, Donna (Paul) Lim and Brenda; grandchildren, Tim (Josie), Dana (James), Michael (Rachel), Bryan and Kevin and great grandson, Max. She will also be deeply missed by numerous extended family and friends whose lives she touched.
At her request, there will be no service. If so desired, in memory donations may be made to Tapestry Foundation for Health Care, 4865 Heather Street, Vancouver, BC V5Z 0B3. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at St. Vincent’s Langara for their dedicated care and support during these past six years.
