Margaret Brown (Herder) died Monday March 18, 2024 at the age of 98 in Gibsons, BC.

Margaret was pre-deceased by her mother, Isabella Brown, father Thomas Brown, sisters, Isabelle Campbell & Velma Reed, nephew Myles Gray and husband Len Herder. She leaves to mourn nieces Sheryl ReedWells (Bob), Shelley Reed, Margaret Reed, their children and grandchildren, and cousins in Canada and Scotland.

Margaret grew up in South Vancouver, daughter of grocer/butcher Thomas Brown. The family business, Brown’s Market was located adjacent to their home at 37th Ave & Windsor St. in Vancouver. Through her family business she was recruited as a food demonstrator  travelling throughout the province. She was always professional and proved to be a great asset selling out of the products she demonstrated. Later on she worked many years in the Lower Mainland bakeries of Super-Valu. She moved to Sechelt in 1978 after her mother’s death to care for her father in his final years.

Dancing! She so loved to dance, all kinds – it was so hard for her to still when the music played. She was a long time member of the local square dance club. She also enjoyed sailing on her sailboat along the waters of the Salish Sea and beyond.

Margaret and Len met at the seniors’ centre, fell in love, married and had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed many adventures together, especially on cruise ships and salmon fishing off the west coast.

Many thanks to the care aids and nurses at Christensen Village who watched over her these past years.
