It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Louise Janet Huggan. Louise passed away after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 84 on February 5, 2022. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Louise was born on September 23, 1937, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. She grew up in Vancouver, and it was there she met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Huggan. They married in August 1959, moving to Burnaby where they raised their 3 children. They later moved to Surrey and then later retired to the sunny Okanagan in 2002. They enjoyed many happy years together. Louise, also fondly known as Lucy was predeceased by her father Tom, mother Violet and her beloved husband Bob in 2014. Louise is survived by her loving children, John (Tracy) Kelowna, Janice (Paul) Coquitlam, and Brian (Lorianne) Langley. She was very proud to have 9 beautiful grandchildren and was thrilled when she became a great-grandmother in 2020. She is also survived by her loving younger sister Dawn and 2 nephews, Brent, and Darren, and 1 grand niece. Over the years Louise and Bob enjoyed many wonderful trips together, and Louise was also able to experience some lovely trips with her sister Dawn. Highlights for Louise were the Saratoga Beach, Caribbean, Palm Springs, Hawaii, the Maritimes, Europe and Haida Gwaii. Some of her happiest memories were the vacations where all the family gathered together for many years during the summer in Okanagan Falls. Louise enjoyed reading, baking, knitting and was known for her beautiful cross stitch work, many of which were gifted to family members. She spent countless hours on these and put a lot of love into them. The family would like to thank Drs. Finch, Moore and Wickstrom for the wonderful care they provided Mom with. We are so grateful to all the health care workers that continue to strive to provide the best possible care in these trying times. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the Central Okanagan Hospice House that tended to Mom with such devotion and dignity in her final days. Arrangements made by Kearney Funeral Services. No service by request, a private family gathering will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association (COHA) would be greatly appreciated.
