Passed away peacefully at the B.C. Cancer Agency after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Carl and Eira Kottmeier; and survived by his loving wife, Sonia Kottmeier; siblings, Hans, Andrew and Thomas; children, Carl (Sherri), Paul, Alyx, Barbara (Chris) and Martin (Ida); grandchildren, Ava and Matti; and many relatives.
Leonard was well known for his calm charming demeanor, kindness, witty humour and passion for music. Having come from Swedish decent, Leonard was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he attended St. Andrew's Scott's School, followed with a short stint in the military.
In July of 1959 his family made the move to Vancouver, where he would work at MacMillan Bloedel for 23 years and meet his to be wife, Sonia on a business trip to Guatemala, which, as he used to say, "was love at first sight".
A special thanks to the friendly and helpful staff at the B.C. Cancer Agency for all the care and kindness.
