Lee Sung Kim. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2008 at Mt. St. Joseph Hospital with his family by his side.  He is survived by his loving Wife Kye Soon Kim; Son Konah; Daughters Yonah (Doug) Martin, Jinah (Grant) Kim, Daughter in law Maureen Marriott, Grandchildren Thelonious Duk-Sun, Kiana Mi-Sun, Ella Jin-Sun, “Mimi” Mi-Hyun and Tae Hyun.

Born on September 11, 1935 in Pyongnam, Korea, he earned his Bachelor and Master Degrees in English Literature at Soongsil and Korea National Universities, while working for Save the Children Federation.  He went on to receive a Diploma in Business Administration from Yonsei University, and taught English Literature at Soongsil University, before leaving Korea to pursue his MBA at the University of Illinois. He would eventually make his home in Vancouver, where he enjoyed a long career with Finning Canada Ltd.

He continued to pursue his lifelong passion for writing, regularly contributing newspaper articles and publishing several books, both in Korea and in Canada.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the Mount Saint Joseph Extended Care family for their loving care, VGH Renal, Spine & Spine Step-Down teams, Burnaby General Staff, Rev. Jung Chul Woo & KUC family, and all those whose support made a difference.

Funeral Service will be held 7:00 PM on Monday April 7, 2008 at the Korean United Church, 3821 Lister Street, Burnaby.  Graveside service 10:30am, Tuesday April 8th at Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby.  Rev. Jung Chul Woo officiating.
