Peter Talbot Lawrence passed away peacefully at Royal Columbian Hospital on Friday, October 16th at the age of 72. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and about to start radiation treatment.

Peter was born November 11th, 1947 in Victoria, B.C.  The son of a Navy Father, he grew up in Victoria, Halifax, Grimsby, and finally Ottawa, Ontario.  He moved to Vancouver, British Columbia when he was in his early 20’s and loved it so much he convinced the rest of the family to move out West.  He loved living in the West End of Vancouver for its vibrant night light, access to beaches, and walkability.

Peter was an enthusiast of the great outdoors, as experienced by his early career choices - lifeguard and ski patrol. Playing softball, sailing his Hobie catamaran, watching sports, and lounging on one of the many West End or Kitsilano Beaches were among his favorite activities.

He was a bus driver for over 30 years with an exemplary record.  Perhaps he loved the walkability of the West End as a result of his career choice.

He was predeceased by his father Harold Ernest and brother Richard.  Peter’s natural humor, intelligence, and kind heart will be missed by his mother Alma Lawrence, brother Chris, sisters Victoria Gilles and Liz Wainwright, niece Shannon, and nephews Luke, Bill, Daryl, and his many friends.

In lieu of flowers, an act of kindness would be appreciated or donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Peter’s name. Due to Covid, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
