It is with great sadness and profound regret that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our dear sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, foster mom, dog mom, sponsor, sponsee, and friend, Laurie Heather Eadie.

Laurie passed away at home due to natural causes on September 14th, 2021 with her beloved rescue dog, Sir Elton John, by her side. Laurie leaves behind her dog Elton, her sister’s Anna Arcuri (Joseph Arcuri) and Emma Eadie (Hugh Moody), her stepdad David Eadie (Norma Hoeppner), father Philip Hughes (Trish Hughes), her nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many more beloved family and friends. She is predeceased by her mother Heather Eadie, grandparents Charles & Helen Smith, grandparents Kenneth & Doris Eadie, and other very loved & missed family members. Laurie was known for her incredible strength, courage, resilience, and determination. She overcame every obstacle life put in her way. The only thing that ever slowed her down was a brain injury she suffered after a fall at work in 2016 but she never let it keep her down.

Laurie was selfless with a heart of gold. She spent many years as a foster parent to indigenous youth in care and made a huge impact on every child she had the privilege of caring for. Laurie was also a huge part of Vancouver sober living community and was less than a week away from receiving her 17yr AA chip and cake. While apart of the rooms she sponsored many people and helped them find their own paths to sobriety.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in Laurie’s name to the Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association. Being able to help others who also suffer from brain injuries, would mean the world to Laurie.

Anyone who knew Laurie would tell you that this world has lost one of the most extraordinary human beings to ever grace this planet.

She will be forever missed and forever loved.
