It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband and father, Lars/Far, at St. Michael’s Hospice in Burnaby, B.C. on November 10, 2011.  He leaves behind his wife Doreen of 43 years, son John, daughter Jennifer (Martin), sisters Mette (Finn) and Grete of Denmark, and Lene of Finland, many nieces and nephews and very good friends.  Lars moved from Denmark to New York in the early sixties where he completed his doctoral studies.  He then moved to Canada where he began his career and met his wife.  Lars excelled in his profession of Forest Products Research & Development traveling the world, inventing new products and producing over 102 publications and 16 U.S. Patents.  His work took him to Alberta, British Columbia, and Denmark and was widely acknowledged as a world class expert in his chosen field.  Not only did Lars live a remarkable life professionally, he was even more proud of his accomplishments raising a happy healthy family, and creating a breathtaking cottage property on Gambier Island, B.C.  He lived a life full of appreciation for nature and will be laid to rest in Lytton, B.C.’s cemetery.  Funeral services will be held at The Danish Lutheran Church at 6010 Kincaid Street in Burnaby B.C. on November 16, 2011 at 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Pancreatic Cancer or Scleroderma research would be gratefully appreciated.
