It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kenneth (Ken) Doyle on December 14th, 2020, at the age of 69.
Born in Alliston, Ontario, Ken spent his early life on a farm near Tottenham before moving with his family to Toronto. He first came to Vancouver in 1969 and settled here after traveling extensively in India, Europe, and other locales. He worked for 40 years for Canada Post, where he made lasting friendships and impacted many lives with his work as a shop steward and local officer for the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).
Ken was known for his sense of humour and sarcastic wit, generosity, and love of the colour green. He was an avid photographer and history buff, and he loved reading, listening to music, attending live shows and concerts, hanging with friends, and birdwatching. A Jeopardy fanatic, Ken often joked about trying out for the show. Throughout his life, he pursued his passion for travel, most recently visiting Cuba and Costa Rica. Ken’s greatest passion was his family; he loved and was immensely proud of his daughter and three grandchildren.
Ken, or Kenny as many fondly call him, will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Danica (Dale), his grandchildren Mia, Brayden, and Kiana, his brother John (Terry) and niece and nephews, and close friends Lisa and Marlene. He is predeceased by his brother Ed, mother Ellen (nee McCormick), and father Gerard.
A private family funeral was held on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020. A celebration of life will be held when we can gather safely. Memorial donations may be made to Covenant House Vancouver or the George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary.
