CRAIG, Kathleen died peacefully on February 21, 2018 in Coquitlam at the age of 95. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Frederick in 2000 and is survived by a large extended family of 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Our dear mother was a vivacious Yorkshire girl who “joined up” at 18 to serve in the WAAF during WWII. While enlisted, she met and married the love of her life, a handsome Alberta boy who was serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. One of many war brides who immigrated to Canada after the war, she and Fred raised 5 children during his career in the Air Force which mother thoroughly enjoyed. After all the many moves which air force life entailed they settled in Victoria, becoming avid members of the Royal Colwood Golf Course. Mother joined the Victoria Weavers and Spinners Guild and helped to establish the Gift Shop of the Provincial Museum, becoming an expert on West Coast Native art. She was an accomplished artist in her own right, notably in the field of tapestry weaving. With advancing years, she lived in several retirement homes in Victoria, eventually moving to Coquitlam to be near her children.
Our many thanks to Dr. Moseley and all the staff at the Madison Care Centre in Coquitlam for their wonderful care.
A simple funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock on Tuesday, February 27, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 9387 Holmes Street, in Burnaby, Msgr. Bernard Rossi P.H., J.C.D. presiding.
