The family of Karen Howay is sad to announce that Karen passed away peacefully on November 4th, 2018 at Royal Columbian Hospital with her family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband Roger, her sons Spencer and Christopher, her daughter Jordan, daughter-in-law Karen and grandsons Cameron and Mitchell. She will also be missed by her brother Warren and sister Maureen as well as members of the Julien, Schaefer, Billow, Peterson and Matheson families.
Karen received her nursing degree from UBC and Master’s degree from San Diego State University. She worked for many years as a Psychiatric nurse at Surrey Memorial and Royal Columbian Hospitals. After receiving her Master’s degree, she taught Psychiatric Nursing at Douglas College for many years. Along with a successful professional career, she was also a dedicated volunteer, having served as the founding President of Westminster House.
Karen will be remembered for her loving and caring nature and her dedication to her family and friends. A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 17th from 12-3 p.m. at the Vancouver Golf Club.
