It is with heavy hearts we announce that after a short battle with cancer, the peaceful passing of our beautiful and beloved Julie Tio, on Monday, March 11, 2024. Born to Boen Kwet Kong and Lie Ban Nio on November 4, 1938, in Bandung, Indonesia, Julie was the second of nine children.
Julie lived a grand and wonderful life full of love and adventure. She was born and raised in Bandung, where she met her lifelong love, Stephen. Their adventures took them to live in Hamburg. From there, Toronto, then Winnipeg, then finally to Langley, BC. Along the way, she had her son, Adam, and they were a happy, loving family. Julie and Stephen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013, shortly before the sudden loss of Stephen.
Julie always had her Catholic faith to guide her through life. She showed a dedication to her church that was a rarity. She was always there with an outstretched hand to anyone who needed it. Selfless, giving and caring are words that do not come close to describing Julie's nature.
Julie is survived and remembered by her son Adam (Stacey) and her grandchildren Sheldon, Malaya and Lalayna. In addition, she is survived by her sister Flora and brothers Danny and Max. Julie is predeceased by her husband Stephen Tio, sisters Mary and Hetty and brothers Jan, Tony, and Freddy.
