A dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Born in Bogas do Meio, Portugal on July 21, 1927. José passed away peacefully in Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 94.
Predeceased by his dearly loved wife, Maria Celina (1939 – 2004), and siblings, Lucia and António. He is survived by his three siblings, daughter Suzy (Kelvin), sons Zeca (Susan) and John (Jodie), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the staff and professionals at Royal Ascot Care Center, who provided the utmost care shown to José in the last few years of his life. Heartfelt thanks are extended to Anne Bryant, ASL interpreter, who was an essential support during his time at RACC.
There will be no service at his request. José will be laid to rest alongside his wife at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Salt Spring Island.
