It is with great sadness, yet profound hope in Christ, that we announce the death of our dear friend and brother-in-Christ, Jonn Olldym (born Jonn William Oldham), age 73. Jonn went to be with our Lord Jesus on November 26 th , 2021 after battling the COVID-19 virus at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver. He is survived by his twin brother Norman Oldham and by a large community of friends in the downtown eastside and New Life Lutheran Church who loved him as family.

Although Jonn held many different jobs including counselor, accountant, project development officer, he will be most remembered for his gift of encouraging others and making others, especially newcomers, feel welcome. He loved to dance, he loved to pray, and he loved to sing as loud as he could (often confidently off-key!). Jonn was as much of a people-person as anyone could be and was often seen eating with his large community of friends either in the downtown eastside or New Life Church. He never let his physically failing body, or falls from his scooter, prevent him from coming out to support his friends. He was involved in every committee that he was allowed to engage in and was always on the go, ready to share his warm hugs and his even warmer heart.

A casket viewing will be held Thursday December 9 th , 2021 at Kearney Funeral Homes’ Vancouver location (450 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V5Y 1E2 , Phone: 604.373.4845) 11am to 2pm. Self-checks (https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en) and masks are required.
