John (Jack) William Thomas Johnston aged 65, passed away on March 21, 2024, at Royal Columbian Hospital. Jack was born in North Vancouver on November 15, 1958, to William and Patricia Johnston. He grew up in Maple Ridge, BC, graduated from Maple Ridge High School in 1976 and for the last 31 years lived in New Westminster. He married Lianne Andrew, August 15, 1981, at St. Patrick’s Church in Maple Ridge. Jack’s mother, Pat, called him a “Jack of all trades, “he could fix vehicles, even building his kids a go-cart, all the while following his desire to create something useful or necessary for homes out of wood. His talent is showcased in a number of houses in the lower mainland and BC interior with beautiful cabinetry, including tile work, along with everything in between. Truly a skilled carpenter, when a customer wanted something unique created, Jack was always able to produce exactly what they wanted. Jack loved going to the racetrack to watch the funny cars, but his true passion was golf, then lake fishing. Jack was a man of few words but loved a good joke, a beer or two, and he knew his way around the kitchen and BBQ. Jack is survived by his wife, Lianne; his father, William, older sister, LaVerne, and brother ‘n law Mark Hayek, his two beautiful children, Alexandra, Andrew, and his wife Lindsay plus his three active and curious grandchildren; Conor, Olivia, and Ivy. A Celebration of Life will be held in New Westminster, date to be confirmed.
