It is with a heavy heart we share the sudden passing of Richard. He is predeceased by his father Robert Gilmour, survived by his son Stephen (Lauren), mom Lorie, brothers Robert, Ronald (Gabe), Rodney and sister Christine, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard was raised in Port Edward, BC. In his youth, Richard worked in the fishing industry and Smiles Seafood Café before landing a job as an apprentice plumber. Richard relocated to New Westminster in the early 1980’s where he continued his career and became a Red Sealed Journeyman Plumber/Gas Fitter. He was a member of UA Local 170, working on several large construction sites including RCH, VGH, Burnaby and St. Paul’s Hospital. Richard took pride in sharing his knowledge and experience with young apprentices.
Richard was young at heart and had a great sense of humour. He loved music and enjoyed snowboarding. His favorite pastime was foraging in the forest with Stephen and Lauren harvesting various wild mushrooms.
Richard was loved and will be missed by many. On behalf of the family, thank you for your support and kind expressions of sympathy at this difficult time. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 1, 2025 @ 10 am at Kearney Funeral Services, 219 6th Street, New Westminster, BC.
