It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved son, brother, nephew and best friend to many, our Johnny boy.
John will be deeply mourned by his mom Barb and dad Dennis, his brothers Sean and Max and his aunts and uncles, cousins and his many friends. He was predeceased by his fabulous Westie Ross but to everyone else Roscoe.
John was born in Saskatoon, lived most of his formative and adult life in Calgary and spent the last years in Vancouver after his life changing spinal cord injury in 2018.
Throughout John's life's journey, whether on Vancouver Island at school or at the cabin, in Australia, Thailand, Costa Rica or California or just bombing around his adopted community of Granville Island on his scooter he was an irrepressible character who brought a chuckle to all he encountered with his customary middle finger salute. He treated everyone with respect and dignity, and he listened to their stories.
John believed in always keeping those he loved informed about his passions, his love of music, the latest hip-hop tracks to listen to, what shows to watch, or what team to place the winning bet on. His favorite subject was what exotic strain you could experience that he had recently procured for his smoke collection. He loved his basketball and football and the fights. He loved to cook and had a standard "make it extra spicy "and "make it extra crispy" too. John loved to share stories of his many adventures, never failing to evoke an emotional feeling he was seeking from his audience.
John lived life on his own terms... He taught us all that to strive for a true emotion was more important than a thing or a belonging. He was a romantic. He loved his family. That was his truth and he connected with those around him deeply. He will be dearly missed in this life.
John will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.
There will be a celebration of John's life:
