Joaquim was born in Carona, Aldona, Bardez, Goa on Christmas Day, 1927. He worked in Kenya for Barclays Bank from 1948 to 1970, and returned to India and lived in Bandra, Mumbai. He later joined his daughter and her family in June 1994 in Vancouver BC.
He lost his wife very early on and struggled to raise 2 children as a single father. He never married again as his children were his life.
He loved to travel, read books on self-improvement and was very devout. He loved good food and was always ready for a good laugh. He was very positive and always looked on the brighter side of life. He loved all animals and was devoted to his dog Toffee.
Joaquim was predeceased by his wife Maria (Mary nee D’Cruz), mother Maria Luizinha, father Thomas Constantino, his brother Max, and Sisters Gertrude and Ermelinda. He was a loving father to Brian (May) in London, UK and Cynthia (Norman). He was a beloved grandfather to Jamie, Lauren, Cheryse and Craig.
