With great sadness we announce the passing of Joan Mabel Burwash. Predeceased by Albert (Buddy) Jefferson Burwash, her husband of 59 years, and her siblings, Art, Kay, Dorothy, and Ted. Lovingly remembered by her children, Jeff (Chris), Lindsay (Nancy), Stuart (Judi), Robin (Maureen), and Leslee (George). She was a cherished grandmother to Nicholas (Jessica), Breanna (Allan), Joshua, Sarah (Ashley), Ben (Danica), Molly and Max (Alecia); and great-grandmother to Bodie, Maren, Bowie, Easton, Luella, and Jonah. Joan was born and raised in Vernon, BC. After graduating from nursing school at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, she worked in both Whitehorse, YT and Trail, BC. While working in Trail, she met her husband Bud and in 1957, they moved to Surrey to raise their family. Joan worked the rest of her career at Surrey Memorial Hospital. In her spare time, Joan loved spending time at the family cabin at Hihium Lake, traveling, going to the theatre, gardening, knitting, and doing needlework. She was a giving person, and was always helping others. Joan valued time with family and friends, and she always made the most out of life with a smile and a twinkle in her eye. Thank you to the hard working and loving staff at Chartwell. Due to Covid-19, a celebration of life may be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
