D. Joan Sleigh

Joan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her four children on November 26, 2024. 

Joan was predeceased by her husband Barry in 2006. She leaves behind her four children: Ted (Janine), Diana (Hugh) Alley, Debby (Jim) Hughes, Rob (Mimi), 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren (plus one to arrive soon). Joan, also known affectionately as Tutu by her grandchildren, was the Matriarch of our family and we will miss her dearly. 

Born May 5, 1931, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Joan enjoyed a career teaching piano and working in the travel industry, although her family and friends were always her main love and priority. She had a genuine love and interest in people and enriched the life of everyone she touched. She was a passionate gardener, shared many adventures on the family sailboat, and delighted in singing in many choirs over the years. Joan contributed to her church and community in many different volunteer roles.
