Jean Megan (Wyness) Anderson died suddenly on Friday July 19th,  2019 at home in Vancouver at the age of 76. Jean was predeceased by her husband John (2008). Jean will be sadly missed by, sons and daughters-in-law, Ian and Tegan, and Derek and Jennifer St. Louis. Jean was a dedicated and engaged Nana and leaves her grandchildren Simone, Isabelle, Ty and Keely with so many fond memories. Jean shared her love of adventure with her grandchildren, taking each of them on a travel adventure in their 12th year. She was a strong supporter of her grandchildren and appreciated their uniqueness. She loved following and watching Ty’s football successes, sharing her love of books and learning with Keely, hanging out on the west coast with Simone, who moved across the country to attend the University of Victoria in part to spend more time with Jean, and spending quality time with Bella who Jean always said was “great company”. Jean also had a special relationship with Lisa Duncan and her daughter Cedar, who Jean considered an honorary grandchild.

Jean leaves behind many family members and friends in Canada and South Africa. She  will be missed by brother and sister-in-law Peter and Bev Wyness of the U.K. and sister and brother-in-law Bronwyn and Lester Sherman of New Zealand and all of their children and grandchildren. Jean was born in South Africa and in 1977, driven by their opposition to Apartheid, Jean and John moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with young sons, Ian and Derek. Jean built a life in Canada that included many close friends and a successful career as an accountant.

Jean was fiercely independent, and in the wake of John’s death forged a new and fulfilling life including many close friends, a commitment to her community and on-going learning. Jean was a sounding board for her children and her wise council will be sorely missed. She was actively involved with Brock House, Probus, Bridge, and Harbour Cover Strata Council.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Brock House Society. A celebration of Jean’'s life will be planned at a date to be announced.
