Jean was born in Calgary, Alberta on August 7th, 1928, the seventh and eventually middle child of thirteen. This large family, expanded by nieces, nephews and three children of her own would be the cherished centre of her life. She was a generous and fiercely loyal mom, sister, daughter and wife. Her compassion and kindness extended beyond family to those she encountered in her professional life as a Registered Practical Nurse. She was curious about other places and enjoyed travel whether it be to Nanaimo to visit her sister Lorna, across Canada to see various relatives or to the UK and China with sisters Mabel and Marjory.
Over the last decade of her life she suffered many trials, the death of her youngest daughter Elaine and then of her beloved husband Carl. She responded with dignity and resolve. Moving into assisted living at Southview Heights as a widow, and on her own for the first time at the age of 87, she made new friends and continued to contribute to her new community with humour and goodwill.
She died in Vancouver on April 6, 2022. She is survived by John, Sherry and her larger community of extended family and friends.
