It is with tremendous sadness and heartbreak, we announce the sudden passing of Jason Michael Gregory, on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 in New Westminster, British Columbia.

Jason was predeceased by his beloved parents, Gary (2018) and Ann (2022). Loving brother to Sean (Lauren), Matt (Krista) and his devoted partner, Ali Bowden. Loving and forever proud uncle of Lucas, Mitchell, Colin, Sienna and Marlie.

Jason grew up in London, Ontario and graduated from Western University with a degree in Anthropology.

Lover of primates, adventures, and travelling to distant lands like Peru, Africa and Borneo. Jason was happiest when he was in nature, on a plane headed somewhere amazing or in the simple pleasure of being surrounded by those he loved and who loved him.

Jason had a great affection for British Columbia, especially Vancouver Island and found joy being in the mountains, near the ocean and in the presence of trees, the Arbutus being his favourite. He was easily moved by beauty whether music, poetry or the way the sunlight filtered through a stand of trees.

Kind hearted, loyal and true. Jason had many gifts to share, his greatest was in connecting with and helping others. Over the course of his life he spent countless hours volunteering his time for causes that spoke to him, the most meaningful being the orangutan rescue centre in Borneo; where he spent five weeks.  Jason had a keen intelligence, a terrific sense of humour, and a creative and artistic way about him, whether through words, his sense of style or the way he paid attention to beauty and detail.

Jason was a true warrior, rising up again and again to meet the challenges of his life and striving to better himself and the way he showed up for others. He knew his purpose in this life was to love and be loved and he more than succeeded.

Jason, as your favourite band, Pearl Jam sings, you were “Given to Fly”! You will be forever missed and loved.

A private family celebration will be held at a later date. In his memory, personal donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or Ape Action Africa.
