It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our beloved James William Lowther (Jim). As he desired, James passed away peacefully at home and in his leaving he was as full of grace as he had always been in life. The day he passed, January 7th, 2022, was full of light and it mirrored James’ beauty and exquisite, aesthetic sense of being. Although we will ever mourn his leaving, James will always be remembered for his brilliance, talent, and uniqueness. He was always self - composed and had a carefully curated sense of style which complimented his thoughtful, gentle, and sensitive nature. He will be missed by his many friends and colleagues whose friendship he enjoyed and treasured. James was respected and admired within his profession as a technical writer who always went beyond expectations and who brought an unexpected, but very welcome, critical, and artistic eye to his work. James was a perfectionist. He loved a broad range of music, literature, the fine arts, languages and was proficient in both Italian and French. James was also a true cat lover.
From the first diagnosis of ALS 3 years ago, until his last days, James continued to engage with all those he knew and loved, and he lived every day with his quintessential quiet intelligence, critical eye and dry humour.
James is survived by and leaves to mourn, his father, Vernon William (Bill), his brother, Jay and many aunts, uncles and cousins. James will be sorely missed by his loving and devoted partner, Wyn Bielaska with whom he shared a beautiful relationship. James was born and lived in a quietude of beauty. As a dear friend said of him, “He was the moon in a calm night sky”.
