Great Grandchildren, Remy, Jonathan, Eric, Liam, Jada, Jaxon, Lily, Caolan, Eliko, Mila, Claire, Wyatt, Ethan, Koan, Ernie, Logan and Claire.
Born in Vancouver, BC, he grew up and attended Kitsilano High School, then finishing his Grade 12 year at West Van High. Jim loved sports and loved coaching his children throughout the years. He was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed played Baseball, Basketball, Racquetball and Golf. It was his love for hockey that brought him years of enjoyment at the Arbutus Club, especially when he played alongside his sons Gord and Gary in the Senior Men’s House league.
He started his career in the banking industry, moving to Standard Oil in the late 50’s. From there he had a successful career with Metropolitan Life before starting his own business, Buntain Insurance in 1967. With a constant yearning for obtaining his university degree, while running the Business, he started taking courses part time, in order to qualify for the UBC Commerce program. With perseverance and long hours, working and studying alongside his son Gordy, he then graduated in 1988. Even with that full schedule he managed to fit in hockey with his sons and a number of the Charles Schultz Snoopy Tournaments in Santa Rosa California.
Jim was a loving family man who cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of our families’ favourite memories include the times spent at Inkaneep, through 50 + years, where Jim thoroughly enjoyed being with and seeing the family have fun together.
The Buntain family would like to thank Dr Mansing and the staff at Crofton Manor for their kindness and compassion while Jim was there. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the charity of your choice in Jims Memory.
There will be a celebration of his life held at the Arbutus Club on December 12, 2024 from 1 - 4 pm.
