Duncan passed away after a brief illness with lymphoma cancer. He is fondly remembered and very much missed by his wife Sheila, son Jamie, daughter in law Kelly and his two grandsons Max and Daniel.
Duncan was born in Toronto but spent most of his school years in Winnipeg. He attained a master’s degree in economics and computer science at the University of Manitoba where he met his wife Sheila. Duncan was a lifelong learner and was always engaged is some sort of academic pursuit, including publishing ‘Deflated’ a book on economic theories.
After graduation Duncan and Sheila moved to Vancouver where Duncan worked for BC Telephone for a number of years, including an overseas assignment in Indonesia, and later Group Telecom where he retired as a director. In retirement Duncan and Sheila travelled to many countries in Europe and Asia and enjoyed being a part of Max and Daniel’s activities.
Baboo, as Max and Daniel called him, was always ready to play or talk or give a hug when needed. He spent many hours creating a Halloween event in the garden each year to the delight of children and adults alike.
There will be a family graveside service. We hope to have a celebration of life for Duncan when it is safe to do so. We would like to thank the doctors and medical staff who helped with Duncan’s care, it was much appreciated.
