We are sad to announce the passing of James Douglas (Doug) Ferguson July 19th, of 2022 at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

Doug was predeceased by his father James Douglas Ferguson Sr., and his mother Lucille Giesbrecht.

He is survived by his wife, Liz to whom he was married to for 46 years, their daughters Shawna and Shannon, their son Bryan, and his grandchildren Rowan and Wesley.

He also leaves behind his siblings, Aurelle, Patti, and Kim, as well as his nieces and nephews.

Doug was originally born in Toronto, Ontario, spent most of his early years in Kingston along the St. Lawrence River, but moved to the Lower Mainland of British Columbia in the mid 1960’s. It was April 30, 1975, where he met his wife Liz on the first-strike picket duty at SFU from 2am-6am. They were married the following year on May 15, 1976.

He worked at SFU Burnaby’s Audio/Visual department, later named the Instructional Media Centre, from 1972 to 1981 before becoming a real estate agent for the next 22 years. He then shifted to forklift driving and warehousing from 2003 until his retirement in late 2021.

Doug was a sensitive man, quick to showcase his love for his family, and appreciate anyone that had a kind nature, like himself.  He was a lover of slapstick comedy, a good guitar riff, traveling with friends, and above all; laughter. He left us with his heart full of faith.

Our hearts once filled with his warm presence, now hold his memory close. He is deeply missed.
