Craig, B.A. LLB, James was born in Alberta, Oct. 17, 1924 and died Nov. 10, 2011. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Beverly, daughter Janine (Tim), sons William (Kathleen) and Patrick (Helen), and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Henry (Lorna). Jim worked for an optical company and then the shipyards before becoming an officer in RCAF. After the war he went on to UBC, receiving a law degree while in the off season working as a faller for a logging company in Alert Bay and as a forester on Vancouver Island. He was past president of the Serra Club, Newman Club, Vancouver Community Arts Council, Asian Arts Society, Vancouver Ballet Society, Norbert Vezak’s Western Dance Theatre, and the BC Mountaineer Club. Jim had a great love of the outdoors, climbing many mountains. He was the only Canadian in the Yukon expedition to climb with Robert Kennedy in the naming of Mount Kennedy, after his brother John, in 1965. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Fri. Nov. 18 at 2pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with celebrant Fr. John Horgan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jim to Covenant House (575 Drake St., Vancouver, V6B 4K8) or to the BC Cancer Foundation (600 West 10th Ave.,
Vancouver, V5Z 4E6).
