Ivor passed away suddenly at Royal Columbia Hospital on September 19, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marisa, his brother, Raymond (Anita) in Birmingham, England, niece, Joanna, and nephew, Peter. Ivor was born in Birmingham, England on June 30, 1943, graduated from high school there and then went to work in the wholesale produce business. He decided to move to Canada in 1967 but spent 18 months working on fishing boats in Iceland on the way over. Ivor first worked in the nickel mines in Thompson, Manitoba but found it too isolated so moved to the Lower Mainland. He spent his working career here, in the warehousing and distribution of dry goods for Overwaitea and Safeway. Ivor converted to Catholicism in August 1971 after completing the RCIA program at Holy Rosary Cathedral. Ivor met Marisa through the Church and they were married in Quesnel (Marisa`s home town) in 1975. Ivor and Marisa have belonged to Our Lady of Assumption, Holy Cross and St. Peter`s Parishes. In 1985 Ivor joined the Knights of Columbus as a Charter Member of Port Coquitlam Council 9125 and rejoined as a Westminster Council 1283 Member in 2012. He was active in Burnaby Pro-Life as the Treasurer and Past President and was also a member of St. Peter`s choir. Ivor liked bird-watching, walking, traveling and watching soccer. Prayers for Ivor were said on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Kearney’s Columbia-Bowell Chapel, 219 Sixth Street, New Westminster where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at St. Peter`s Roman Catholic Church, 330 Royal Avenue, New Westminster, Fr. Martin Moser OMI as Celebrant. A private cremation followed. Donations, in Ivor`s name, may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, 1216 West Broadway, Vancouver BC, V6H 1G6
