Margaret Alice Taylor, a devoted educator, beloved mother, and cherished grandmother, peacefully passed away in New Westminster, BC, on January 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on June 15, 1933, she is survived by her three children Brent (Carrie), Garth (Mandy), and Sandra (Dave), as well as her seven grandchildren Evan (Stephanie), Aksel (Franqui), Grayson (Shannon), Keegan, Keiko (Jan), Taylor (Nolan), and Robyn (Ethan). Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Norm, her sister Mary, and her brother-in-law Jack. She is survived by her sister-in-law Joan and brother-in-law Dennis.

Margaret graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, showcasing her commitment to intellectual pursuits. She was also an accomplished musician, receiving her ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music, going on to become a decorated pianist and church organist.

Margaret's life was woven with the threads of family, education, and joy. As a dedicated kindergarten teacher, she left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young learners, her nurturing spirit extending beyond the classroom.

After the passing of her husband Norman, Margaret moved to Thornebridge Gardens in New Westminster, were she lived for over 10 years. She would frequently comment on the friendliness and care she felt from the staff, and greatly appreciated their dedication, professionalism, and companionship. Margaret also formed many friendships with other residents at Thornebridge, and enjoyed spending time with them engaged in the many activities there.

Margaret found immense joy in spending time with her family. Annual trips to Parksville became a cherished tradition, creating enduring memories, while the backyard pool served as a hub for family gatherings, filled with laughter and creating beautiful memories. She was the centrepiece of her family, a source of invaluable advice and guidance, a role she cherished.

A memorial service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held on February 9 at 1:00 p.m., at Kearney Columbia-Bowell Chapel, 219 Sixth Street, New Westminster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MSF (Doctors Without Borders) in Margaret’s name. https://action.msf.ca
