At the age of 81, Herminia Lynch of Chilliwack BC, died on October 5, 2023, after a brief hospital stay. The family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Hermie emigrated from the Philippines to the United States as a little girl. She grew up in the farmlands of California’s Central Valley, graduated from San Jose State University, where she met the love of her life and husband Craig Lynch.
A lifelong educator, Hermie began her career in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved the family in 1973 to Fort St. John because they were enthralled by the economic prospects, wonderful people and adventurous weather. Hermie taught in the local school system for 27 years, as well as mentored future teachers through Simon Fraser University. She retired in 1996 and moved to Rosedale BC where she attended the Christ Lutheran Church. She was an avid leader in the music ministry by directing the church choir, as well as the community choir, and travelled with Craig with the Barber Shop Quartet, making new friends everywhere she went. Her love and warmth touched many lives.
Hermie valiantly fought a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She lived every day to its fullest and enjoyed quilting with friends, tending her flower garden and dominating her competition in parlour games.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on December 9, 2023 at the Christ Lutheran Church (9460 Charles Street, Chilliwack BC).
