It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herbert Carl Ruecker on August 3, 2022, in Cloverdale, B.C. at the age of 95. Predeceased by his son Sheldon and grandson Carson, brothers Ervin Hodel (Helen), Ernie (Louise), Otto (Florence), Arnold (Harriet) and Wilfred (Ethel). He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Thyra (nee Brown), son Lonnie, daughters Dawn Chisholm (Dave) and Karen Christopherson (Kevin) and many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Herb was born near Lemberg, Saskatchewan on December 16, 1926. He was a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1947 to 1964 and following his service in the RCAF, spent the remainder of his long working career as a Stockbroker. He was an avid sports enthusiast and there wasn’t a sport he did not enjoy watching. He curled for many years and was a member of the Richmond Curling Club where he curled in a mixed league with wife Thyra and a men’s league. He also played softball and coached his Church’s youth team for many seasons

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and his amazing kindness was experienced by anyone who met him. He would do anything for his family and would drop everything, without hesitation, to help his family in any time of need. Helping with moves, waiting in his car while we went skiing or golfing, taking us out for morning fishing trips and so much more. We are all so blessed to have so many special and treasured memories spent together with him. Sincere thanks to the many staff at Zion Park Manor who treated him so very well. He will be deeply missed but his memory will live on in his family’s hearts forever. As per his wishes there will be no service.
