Dad was born in Mirror, Alberta and moved to Burnaby in his late teens to live with his grandparents. He met Jennie at the local bowling alley and they married in 1950 and set to work raising their family of four boys. Dad was a hard worker and a good provider and was never happier than when his family was around him.
Dad was an elder and lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, serving gladly until his age caught up with him. He was involved with the foundry industry for his entire working life, was a member of the American Foundry Society and wrote "Fire in the Blood", a history of the foundry industry in BC and Alberta. He was one of the last surviving members of the Sons of Scotland Thistle Club. Retirement meant he had more time to spend on do-it-yourself projects, making many items for his grandchildren. His main hobby involved the restoration of vintage cars and he enjoyed many pleasant hours with members of the Vintage Car Club and Totem Model A and T.
Dad passed away in New Westminster. He was predeceased by his beloved Jennie, his son Sandy, granddaughter Shannon, and brother Robert. Remembering him with love and respect are his sons and their families: David and Evelyn; Jim, Heidi, Shaun and Ellie, Chelsea; Christina, Karen and Luke, Stephen; Rob, Kathy, Michael and Alannah. Cherishing their memories are his sisters: Marjorie, Jean, Olive and Gerry, his Aunt Tavie, his special friend Jeanette, his sister-in-law Jeanne, and a multitude of nieces and nephews, especially the Ingram's.
Our appreciation is extended to Dr Yap and the staff at Royal City Manor for their attention to Dad over the past 16 months, also to Dr. Rebeyka who cared for Dad for many years.
A service will be held at a later date. Donations to the Memorial Fund of First Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
