Helen passed away peacefully on the morning of December 11, 2010 at Youville Residence in Vancouver from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease.  She is survived by her husband Tom Tuma, daughter Marie Reimer, son-in-law Peter Reimer, granddaughter Amaris Reimer, and son Tom Tuma.

Helen was born on June 9, 1925 in Powell River, British Columbia to James and Jean Macindoe. She obtained a B Ed  at UBC and had a full career as an elementary school teacher in the Vancouver School District. Helen was an avid golfer and enthusiastic cross-country skier.

A memorial service will be held in the New Year.  Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the ASK Friendship Centre (700 W 57th Avenue, Vancouver, V6P 1S1) where Helen was a volunteer and later a participant, or to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC (www.alzheimerbc.org).  Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Youville Residence in Vancouver who provided excellent and compassionate care to Helen. Helen will be interred at the Columbarium at Mountainview Cemetery at 41st and Fraser in Vancouver.
