It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and omi. Hadi died peacefully in Vancouver on December 12th, 2024, with three generations of her loving family by her side.
Predeceased by Ronald Bowman, her dearly missed husband of over 30 years. Hadi was a very loving and devoted mother to her three children, Angi (Ron), Barb (Brian), Andrew (Lise); and an adoring and much loved omi to her eight grandchildren, Christopher, Kristin, Julia, Maddie, Elizabeth, Hannah, Rachel, and Katerina; and two greatgrandchildren, Caden and Nickolas.
Born in Munich, Germany on April 7, 1934, Hadi was the only child of Sabine (née Mair) and Hubert Meingast. At just 10 months old, Hadi sadly lost her beautiful mother to tuberculosis. Her father later remarried. At the age of 19, she immigrated to Ontario with her family. There she met her first husband, Juergen. They married and settled down in Scarborough in 1959. Lifelong friendships and many wonderful memories were made raising their children on Oakley Blvd. After retirement, Hadi moved to Georgina with her second husband, Ron. They had many happy years there, with plenty of space for their much loved dogs and one extra large cat. Hadi derived great joy from the enchanted flower garden she so lovingly tended. It was a favourite place for the family to gather and play every summer.
Hadi cherished her time with her family. She was so proud of all her grandkids and was always there to cheer them on at the many sporting and school events over the years. So many precious memories were made on family holidays. Hadi was always up for an adventure, especially if it involved a swim with her family in an inviting lake or ocean.
Our Omi had a deep love for music, filling her home with beautiful tunes all day long. She would delight in joining impromptu family dance parties. Hadmute Sabine was incredibly creative and skilled at making treasured quilts and whimsical crafts. She sewed, knit and crocheted many unique pieces and mended well loved stuffed animals. Her delicious black forest birthday cakes were made with love and were always a treat. She is dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
The family is very grateful for the compassionate care Hadi received from Lynn in Aurora, and, during her time in Vancouver, all the staff at CrossReach day program, Youville day program, the Family Respite Centre, and Columbus Residence, a very special place, where she spent her final days.
A celebration of life will take place in Ontario at a later date. For those who wish to do so, donations in Hadi's memory may be made to to Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary or children's charity of your choice.
