With sadness the family of Gladys Pelkey-Currie announce her passing in Vancouver, BC, June 7th, 2018 at the age of 84 years.
Gladys was born October 13th, 1933, in Peoria, Alberta, the second child of Dorse and Carrie Prosser. Gladys attended Canadian Union College in Lacombe, Alberta where she met Albert Pelkey. They married in 1953 and started a family, living in Leduc, Red Deer and Grand Prairie, Alberta, and later Burstall, Saskatchewan.

Gladys was widowed in 1968 due to a tragic car accident involving the family. Gladys(Birdie) met her sweetheart and husband, Art Currie, at an Elks convention and they maintained a long distance romance for many years.  When her kids completed their high school education, she transferred from her job in Red Deer to Vancouver, BC, to be with him. They married in 1981.  They were best friends who shared a great love for each other.

Gladys and Art's dedication and work for the Royal Purple and #1 Vancouver Elks was extensive. They shared many happy and busy times together, organizing and putting on events, raising money for charities, travelling to attend Elks and Royal Purple conventions and for many years acted in official positions for these organizations. She was kind hearted and will be missed.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the caring staff at St. Vincent's Brock Fahrni seniors home in Vancouver, BC, where Gladys resided the last few years of her life, and to Art's son and daughter, Dennis and Debra for their continued support.

Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Dorse and Carrie Prosser, her first husband Albert Pelkey, her brother Ernest Prosser, her sister Trella Ebner(Karl) and her husband Art Currie. She is survived by her daughters Margo Pelkey, Donna Glover (Gary), Carla Pelkey, her son Kirk Pelkey, and a grandson, Mike Glover(Max).

A Celebration of Life to take place at a future date.
