It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppina Zampini, our loving and beloved mother, on April 23, 2021, at the age of 81.

She was predeceased by her mother Maria, father Antonio, and husband Berardino Zampini.  She is survived by her sister Maria Teresa, daughter Nicoletta, son Michele (Chelsea), grandson Luca Antonio Zampini, and many loving family members, nieces, nephews and friends.

Our beautiful mamma’s life began on June 23, 1939, in the town of Campodipietra, province Molise, Italy.  She grew up in a farming family and later became a Sunday school teacher.  With little job opportunities, she moved to Montreal, Canada, with her sister, to live with their aunt, uncle and cousins. Giuseppina worked very hard as a seamstress and greatly enjoyed her time in Montreal.

In 1969, the sisters returned home to visit their parents in Campodipietra.  It was here that she met her husband, Berardino.  They married in Italy and then immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, where they settled to start their new life together. Shortly after their arrival, they welcomed a daughter, Nicoletta, in 1970, and a son, Michele, in 1977.  One of her greatest joys in life was to watch her children perform in an Italian choir, at the Italian Cultural Centre, as well as various venues in Vancouver. She spent many nights sewing elaborate costumes for her children’s performances.

She was a very hardworking Canadian citizen, providing for her family by working in various restaurants and a care home. Her dedication and resilience taught her young children invaluable life lessons. She greatly appreciated celebrating milestone events with family and friends, visiting restaurants and savouring the precious moments of life.  In July of 2020, her sweet grandson, her pride and joy Luca Antonio Zampini, was born, finally making her a grandmother. She sparkled the most in this new, important role in her life. Her strong faith as a Catholic and her love for her children and grandson were present at her final, peaceful moment.

In accordance with Covid Protocols, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 05, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Vancouver, B.C.  A private burial service will follow at Ocean View Burial Park Burnaby, BC.  Friends and extended family may attend and view Giuseppina's both Live Stream services online at https://www.legacystreaming.com/kearney/ .
