Giuseppina (Pina) Alvaro

With deep sadness we announce the passing away of our dear mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend Giuseppina (Pina) Alvaro, on December 17, 2024, surrounded by the love of her son and daughter-in-law in White Rock, BC.

Pina lived a beautiful 86 years that were full of love, service and kindness to the people around her, especially her husband Dominik (Mickey) Alvaro.

Lovingly survived by her son Anthony, daughter-in-law Claudia, step granddaughters Camila and Ileana, sister Maria, family relatives and many nieces and nephews.

She was born on December 1, 1938 in Montorio al Vomano, Italy. In her early twenties she decided to come to Canada in search of new opportunities. She later sponsored her brothers Dante and Tonino (both predeceased) along with their families to immigrate to Canada.

Within a year she met her loving husband Dominik (Mickey) in Vancouver, whom she married on February 6, 1960. During their 40+ married years they formed a loving family which was an open door home for family, friends and many international students where they enjoyed the delicious dinners that she happily enjoyed preparing.

As a devout Catholic, her faith was an important part of her daily life and with that compassion and kindness she was able to share it with the people in her community. Her legacy and memories of dinners, family parties, travels and beautiful holidays will always remain in our hearts.

Prayers & viewing will be on Thursday, January 16th, 2025 at 6:30 pm at Holy Family Parish Church, 4851 Beatrice St, Vancouver.

In celebration of her life we will offer a Mass on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 11 am at Holy Family Parish Church, 4851 Beatrice St, Vancouver, Father Kent Grealy as celebrant.

Although she is not with us now, we celebrate her life and she will always be in our hearts.
