Rest In Peace Giuseppe Dall’Antonia

Giuseppe Dall’Antonia passed away peacefully May 11, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Dall’Antonia, son and daughter-in-law Roger and Adrienne Dall’Antonia, and three grand children, Aliya, Lianna and Noah Dall’Antonia, as well as his nephews Massimo Dall’Antonia and Stefano Dall’Antonia and his wife Diana, and his niece Loretta Dall’Antonia and all their families.

Words cannot express the sadness the family feels at his passing, but they also celebrate a long life that was well lived.

To his family and friends, he was Giuseppe/Dad/Nonno, Zio Joe and Beppe.

For those who knew him, he was a man who lived his life according to his priorities - love of family and friends, a great meal with a good wine, music and dance, a lot of laughter, and always willing to lend a hand to friends - he was an inspiration to how we should all live our lives.

In 96 years, he lived through the Great Depression, was a soldier during World War II, and with little education, less money, and no English he had the courage to move to Canada to start a new life with Anna, his wife of almost 63 years.

Giuseppe and his big brother Antonio always said, “fear and money, the two things we never had”, which captured his spirit.

A man of many trades, from cement finisher to restaurant owner, he was accomplished with the accordion and known for his homemade bread and the garden of radicchio he tended to.

He was famous for his guidance, with his often-repeated advice “If you listen to me, you will do what you want”.  But his greatest piece of wisdom passed on to his family was that they “Don’t confuse the quantity of things in your life, with the quality of your life”.

A larger-than-life presence to his family, in particular his grand children and their many friends, who enjoyed Nonno’s lively sense of humour, as they gathered around the kitchen table so many times for pasta and pizza.

Giuseppe, Dad, Nonno and Zio Joe, you were deeply loved and admired, and will be truly missed by so many.
