Gisele passed peacefully in her home at the age of 92. Days prior, her farewell gift was to lovingly let us know that she had lived a good life and it was time.
Born and raised in Edmonton Alberta, she was the eldest of eight children born to Hazel [Mercier] and Maurice Voyer. Marrying Donald Barker in 1950, a later work transfer moved the family to Vancouver BC.
The joys and challenges of raising four daughters (Lynda, Margaret, Beverly, and Jocelyn) was truly her life’s work. Between attending events, tea with treats, and her ability to make holidays and celebrations special, forever memories were created. She enjoyed fresh flowers, ginger, the beach at low tide, and a warm fireplace.
She will be remembered by her daughters, sons-in-law, five grandchildren, and great-grandson. Joining in memory are her surviving siblings, extended family, and close friends. Gisele was predeceased by her husband Don, daughter Margaret, and four brothers.
Appreciation to Beverly for her generous support as mom aged. Special thanks to the caring staff at Amica White Rock.
Gisele has been laid to rest at the Gardens of Gethsemani. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
Rest in peace Gisele, Mom, Nana
