Gerald Patrick Hamilton
Born Oct 27/1927,
Omagh, Northern Ireland

On July 22/13, Gerry/Dad/Pa, surrounded by his children, slipped from this world to meet with his beautiful wife, Theresa/Mum/Nana & sorely missed grandson Patrick. Not to be out done, canines Seamus, Bonnie & Geordie are there, waiting as well. Born and raised in Omagh, Northern Ireland, Gerry, left home at 15 and joined the Royal Navy at 16. The Navy soon learned he was a bright lad and fast tracked him, eventually becoming one of the youngest Chief Petty Officers ever. While stationed in Scotland, Theresa and Gerry met and married. They and their young family were posted throughout the world. Life after the Navy saw him enrolled at the University of Edinburgh where he acquired his teaching degree. Seeking a better life for his young family the move to Vancouver was made in 1968. Gerry taught math and physics at Lord Byng & Gladstone School till his retirement in 1994. A consummate student, as an octogenarian, Gerry was likely the oldest student at Trinity Western Univ. where he studied Latin for a year.
Sharp as a tack, Pa marched to the beat of his own drum.
He is survived by brother Walter, sons Gerald (Roberta),Tony (Susan), daughters Bernadette (Jim), Deirdre (Don), grandchildren Shaun, Kevin, Connor, Duncan, Bridget, Shannon, Erin, Andrea (Jason) Jonathan & Samantha(Greg). Great-granddaughters Leilani, Isla & Zoe.
